You Can Organize It: Kid's Closet

(DISCLOSURE:This post contains affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I may earn a small fee from qualifying purchases made through links on my blog. That being said, I will not endorse anything unless I honestly like the product.)

Hey yall! Do your kids ever struggle to find that certain shirt or favorite pair of rain boots? Do you ever find yourself rambling through their closets for hours on end looking for something that still fits them? I use to experience this kinda scenario all the time! That is until I figured out the secret to keeping my sanity...ORGANIZATION! It will be so easy to keep your childs closet maintained if you just take a little time to get it organized. So are you ready to dive in and learn just how to do that? Ok, here we go!

You are going to need a plan of sorts to start. What is it exactly that you want to accomplish? For example, I wanted to declutter and organize my daughters closet. Once you have your goal then you can plan out what you will do to achieve it. I decided to take everything out so I could actually see what I was working with. I placed like items with like items, looked them over for any defects, and then separated out the clothes and shoes that were now too small. This was a good time to put the clothes that were no longer needed in a bin for resale or donation. Next I had to plan out the way I wanted things to look in her closet. We have just one top rod in my daughters closet. If you are working in a tight space like me, I suggest investing in shelf closet organizers. You can find them practically at any store. The sunbeam 10 shelf closet organizers pictured below are from Amazon and are currently $12.94. They are nice because they give you extra space and come in various fun colors. You can purchase them through my affiliate link below.

I placed the shelf organizer in the middle of the rod. This gave the illusion of having two separate places to hang clothes which I loved! Next I hung coats and shirts on the left side. I hung skirts and pants on the right side. This makes it pretty easy for kids to pick one item from each section to form an outfit. Now for the bottom of the closet we used a couple of folding storage bins to keep socks, under garments, and leggings in. The River Ridge bins pictured below can also be found at Amazon and are currently $11.90 for a set of two. They also come in various cute colors as well. You can purchase them through my affiliate link below.

That is pretty much all I did to organize my daughters closet. This really didn't take up to much time. I was also able to declutter some of her clothing she no longer uses and turn it into cash through resale! It was a win win situation! I hope this inspires you to take a good look at organizing your kid's closet. Try not to get overwhelmed and remember once you have a place for everything it will be easier to keep things organized. Have fun! I would love to see what you come up with and hear about any helpful hints you may have!

Virtuous Parenting: Patience

Hey yall! It's not always easy to be a patient parent is it? It is easy to get caught up in the everyday chaos of things. We as parents get overwhelmed with the diaper changing, time outs, and the messes we have to continually clean up. We become easily frustrated and sometimes lose our patience with our children. I say this because I have been there to. I remember when we first brought our second child home from the hospital. My husband worked five days a week and wasn't ever really able to help out with the kids at night or anytime for that matter. I was by myself most of the time with a three year old who was in constant need of attention and a colicky newborn who was helpless. After about a month of no sleep I pretty much had no patience left. I was quick to throw my hands up and say I just can't take this on many occasions. It was one of the hardest times I have encountered as a parent.

I'd like to talk with you today about patience. I'm sure we have all heard that saying "Patience is a virtue." It's true and it's one of the most important virtues a parent can have. The Bible talks about patience in several verses. The one that stands out to me the most is 2 Peter 3:9.

2 Peter 3:9 (N I V) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
This really resonates with parenting for me. Just think for a moment with me about the patience of God. He waits for all of us no matter how long it takes. For some of us it can take our whole life to realize we need Him. Can you imagine what it must be like to have patience of that nature?  If we can have patience with our children just as The Lord has patience with us we would see such a change in our outlook on parenting. We should just take the few minutes to breathe and relax when we are drowning in the chaos. Try to take the time to remember we only want to positively affect our children. We need to practice waiting patiently and finding the grace we need for the moment we are in.
I challenge you to practice being mindfully patient this week. If you feel yourself becoming overwhelmed just acknowledge it. Step back and take a minute or even a second to yourself. Remember patience is a virtue and a virtue is something you have to work at in order to master it.
Has there been a time in your life when you have struggled with patience? Do you have any advice on how to be a patient parent? Please feel free to share with us in the comments!

Home Management Binder Series Part Two

Hey yall! Thanks for joining me for part two of the home management binder series! Are you ready to learn more about what you need and how to set up your own binder? Well have a seat and take some notes cause here we go! The things you need for your binder will vary from person to person. It really depends on how in depth you want to get into creating and personalizing it. A good basic list consists of a binder, page dividers, page protectors, dry erase markers, post it notes, insert pages, and pens. Before you set up your binder you are also gonna need to plan out what to include inside it. This will also vary from person to person because everyone will have different topics and subtopics that are important to them. My favorite way to plan out my binder subjects is to take out a sheet of paper and sort of brainstorm all the the broad topics I want to include. I came up with five main categories. These categories consist of Important Contact Info, Calendars and To Do Lists, Finance, Meal Planning, and Maintenance. Within your categories you will need to plan out your subcategories. For Example, In Important Contact Info I included phone numbers and addresses of friends and family, emergency contacts, medical information, insurance information, utility provider information, and account log in information. You will go through each of your main categories and break them down into smaller ones like this. Don't worry if your subtopics are different than mine. There is now wrong way to do this. When you are finished with category planning you are going to need insert pages. There are many FREE PRINTABLES that you can find online via web searches, pinterest, and other blogs. You can also make your own if you are willing to spend some time learning how. I would suggest youtube and picmonkey if you wanna go that route. If you dont wanna put the time into searching for free printables , you can always purchase them from various blogs or an etsy shop. After you get your insert pages you are ready to begin putting things together!

So how do you set up your home management binder? It's simple you organize, categorize, and insert your pages. This is the fun part! All your creativity gets to come out here. You can decorate your binder, add a printable cover or make your own, fill in pages that you need to write information on, insert your pages into the protectors, Organize and insert your category and subcategory pages, add dividers, and you are pretty much done. The possibilities for customization are endless! As time goes on you will find yourself inserting new pages and information into your binder. It will grow and grow and may even become as important to you as one of your family members! I will be doing one more post in this series about resources for home management binders. I will include helpful links and videos to various information like free printables, paid printables, and tutorial videos. So don't forget to check in next Tuesday for the last post in the home management binder series. I hope you are able to take this information and make your own awesome home management binder. I would love to see your blog links, pics, and more in the comment section below!

Exodus 4 & 5

Hey yall! Our readings can be found in Exodus chapter four and five. I will be using the SOAK study method from Women Living Well and it can be found here http://womenlivingwell.org/2015/01/how-to-use-soak-bible-study-method-bible-coloring-chart/ I also will be using the discussion questions that can be found here http://womenlivingwell.org/2015/01/its-time-to-begin/#comment-162476

Exodus 4
S -And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.

That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

10 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

O -When Moses is called by God to go to Egypt and confront pharaoh he hesitates quite a few times. Moses always comes up with a reason as to why he is not capable to do what is commanded of him. God continually assures him that He will be with and guide him along the way.

A -When God asks us to do something we need to just do it. God gives us the guidance and strength we need to do whatever is asked of us.

K -Dear Lord, I thank you for guiding me when I feel as if I am unequipped to act in your will. I thank you for the strength that you have given me. I ask that you would continue to help me learn to say Yes Lord without hesitation. Amen.

Exodus 5
S -
22 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

O -Moses went to God and questioned Him again. Things don't turn out the way he thinks they are suppose to.

A -Sometimes God doesn't work as fast as we expect. We need to learn to expect God to do things in His own time and not ours.

K -Dear God, I pray that you would help me with having patience and trust. Help me to trust you when you say you will do something. Help me to have patience and an open heart for the times it may take longer for you to show me something. Amen.

I have found so many things to work on by reading through the book of Exodus so far. Today's reading was no different. As we read about Moses in these two chapters, I find myself relating so much. Moses questions God repeatedly only to hear the same answer. God called him to do this and God will be with him when he does it. Like I have mentioned before in other posts, I struggle with just saying yes Lord. I tend to self doubt and wonder how can God use someone like me. I let my own fears of judgement from others or even speaking to others get in the way. It seems like if the Lord has faith in us and our ability to do something, we should have the same faith in Him to help us through it. When Moses does do what God ask of him the results aren't what he thought they should be. Sometimes we expect God to work as soon as possible. This is just simply not how our heavenly Father works. Sometimes it takes a while especially when it comes to prayer. I myself have had many times where I have diligently prayed about something only to feel like I haven't been heard. Ya know often times things people pray for don't happen right then. Sometimes there are lessons to be learned in the silence and the desperation. In the case of Moses, things were not changed right when he spoke to pharaoh. God used this time to show his power. Eventually Moses does lead the Israelite s out of Egypt but I think His own faith became stronger because of how God did this. I will leave you all with this thought today

Can you imagine what God could accomplish through us if we only stepped aside and let God move, even if it be in His own time?

Study Questions: Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt God had called you to do something but you didn't feel like you could? Have you ever wondered why things go wrong when you feel as if you are doing everything right?

Hey yall! Thanks for joining me for part one of the home management binder series. Are you ready to learn more about what exactly a home management binder is and why you need one? Well your in the right place so here we go!
The simplest explanation for a home management binder is that it's a tool for complete organization of your family and home. Typically it's a three ring binder full of information on keeping your household running smoothly. This binder really is everything you need all in one convenient place.

So why do you need a home management binder? Because everyone does for the sake of their own sanity! Haven't you ever been the one rambling through your purse for an appointment card? Have you ever spent hours searching through your cookbooks for that certain recipe? I'm sure you can think of so many times when you just couldn't find that number or other piece of important information you were looking for. It's so easy to get overwhelmed and feel like you will never be able to easily manage your time, home, and family. Believe it or not, you can beat this reoccurring problem with organization! You just need to take a little time to get organized so you can stay organized. A home management binder can be your best friend! Using my binder has given me more time to spend with my family, it's given me peace of mind knowing that I have a plan for everything, and it made everyday life more enjoyable by relieving most of the unnecessary chaos. I hope you now see exactly why everyone could use a home management binder. Exodus 2 & 3

Hey yall! Our readings can be found in Exodus chapter two and three.

Exodus 2
S -  And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.

And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

O -  Jochebed defied Pharaohs orders and put her faith in God that He would keep her son Moses safe. Bithiah defied Pharaohs orders and felt compelled to care for Moses. God did not forget His promise to the children of Israel.

A - Listen to what God wants not what others want. Put all faith in Him and He will be faithful to you. Even if it feels like you have been forsaken, God still remembers His promises to you.

K - Dear Lord, I pray that you will help me strive to be fearless like Jochebed and Bithiah. Please help me to never lose faith and remember that you are with me always. Amen.

Exodus 3
S - And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.

O - God heard the children of Israels cries. He said He would deliver them from Egypt and bless them with another land. Moses was questions who is he to be the one God works through. God says he will be with Moses and He will make a way.

A - God never forgets us. He is faithful to his promises. If we obey and have faith, He will make the impossible possible.

K - God I thank you for never forsaking me. Even when my prayers seem like they go unheard I thank you for allowing only your will in my life. I ask that you would help me live in faith and obedience so that you might work through me. Amen.

As I read Exodus chapter two today I revisited a story that I have heard many times. The story of Moses being born and how his mother put her son in God's hands. I can't imagine what it must have felt like for her to place her little baby in a basket and send him into the river. I looked at  my precious nine month old son and began wondering if I would have been able to find the courage to do that very thing if it had been me. I am a very fearful person about many things in life. I had to be honest with myself and say I think I would have been too afraid. I kept reading and got to the part where Pharaohs daughter finds Moses and takes him in as her son. She defies her father and shows again the characteristic of being fearless. Now when I say fearless I mean it in a since of not worrying about other peoples judgements or actions against you. I need to learn this lesson myself. It's impossible to live fully for Christ without complete faith in Him and no fear of others. We also see that God makes mention of His promise to the children of Israel again. He hears their cries and has not forsaken them. There are many times when I have thought for sure God has forgotten me. If prayers aren't answered right when you feel they should be, don't give up. I want to encourage you to press on and have faith. God hears you and you have not been forgotten. In chapter 3 we see that God says again He has heard their cries. He tells Moses He is going to bring them out of bondage and bless them with another land. He tells Moses that he is to go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out from Egypt. That task would have seemed overbearing for me. I would have wondered just like Moses did as he asked God, Who am I to do such a thing? God tells him that He will be with him. Moses shows us how to trust in the will of God right in this moment. If we do what God tells us to do, He will be with us. God also lets him know that He will make a way for what seems impossible to be done. It is amazing to me that if we are obedient, have faith, and are fearless of others, God can work through us and mountains can be moved! Has there been a time when you were fearless? Can you think of a time when God has been able to work through you because you were obedient?I hope we can all learn from these wonderful examples to be more obedient, faithful, and fearless.

Study Questions:Has there been a time in your life when God allowed something to happen to show you a unique view? Has there been a time in your life when your needs were met by an unlikely source? Please feel free to share with us in the comment section.

Happy New Year!

Hey Yall! This post is a little late isn't it? LOL! Well sometimes life goes by faster than we realize! Anyways, Happy New Year! Time for resolutions and new beginnings right? I remember this very time last year... I had resolved to lose weight, exercise, eat healthy, and be the best me I could possibly be! Challenging myself to be supermom, wife, and everything in between was just a setup for a big downfall. At the end of 2014 I hadn't lost the weight, exercised enough, or anything else I said I would do. So as far as resolutions, I thought I had failed. Like every year earlier I began to beat myself up about it and then tried to conveince myself 2015 would be the year I accomplished all my goals. I remember writing a post on facebook about how I never really messure up to all the demands I place on myself. My friends were supportive and left comments saying everyone feels that way sometimes. One person in particular told me to remember all my blessings and concentrate on all the positives of 2014. As I started to think back through year something hit me. I am sooooo blessed! Blessed beyond measure! I have a wonderful husband who loves me. He provides our family with everything we need. I have a beautiful daughter who can make me smile without saying one word. I gave birth to an adorable baby boy who is completely healthy and happy. I have all the material things that I need. I have a renewed faith which makes all things possible! This year as everyone else is making resolutions, I'm not...I'm just being thankful for what I have and what's to come. It doesn't mean that I wont strive to do and be better this year. It just means that I wont be so hard on myself. I challenge you this year to count your blessings! Don't be the first to find the bad or not enough in something. Be the first to notice what you allready have! How do you find joy in your now? What helps you stay positive? I love feedback so don't forget to leave a comment!

Exodus 1

Hey yall! Today's reading is Exodus chapter one.

S - 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

O -  I saw in these verses that the midwives feared God and therefore did not do what the king of Egypt told them to do, but what God would have them do instead. The midwives were blessed because they did not blindly obey the ruler but chose to obey God no matter the circumstances.

A - These verses apply to my life right now. I need to obey God and do what he would have me do. I need not to wrestle with what others may think of me or do to me because of my choice and privilege to serve God. I am a daughter of God and he has richly blessed me.

K - Dear God, I pray that you would please help me to be more like the midwives in Exodus chapter one. Help me to not be so fearful of what others think of me or say about me. I pray you would help me to be what you would have me to be. I thank you for all the blessings you have given me amen.

When I began reading our chapter for the day I didn't expect to get so much from it. I read about the children of Israel. They were many and they were blessed. The king of Egypt grew weary of their numbers. He was afraid that they would become mightier and rise up against him. An order came from the king to inflict more burdens on them. The children of Israel remained faithful to God and continued to multiply. Therefore the king made them suffer more, but they continued to multiply. Then the king gave the order for the midwives to kill the male babies of the Hebrew women when they were born. The midwives refused to obey the kings order and were blessed. I thought about how it must have felt to have someone in so much authority give an order and then not carry out. The midwives must have had some great faith and bravery to disobey the king of Egypt. It's so hard for some people these days to even live out their faith and not be fearful of judgement from others. I have to admit there are times when I have not been so open about my faith because I was scared of what certain people would do or say. There have been times when I knew God wanted me to do something but out of fear of ridicule I wouldn't. God's law would tell us to be flames for Him. Mans law would tell us we look weird for walking up to someone and sharing our faith with them. I really felt conviction today as I read about these midwives. We can only strive harder to be more like these women and know that our reward out ways the ridicule and is far more precious than anything this world will ever be able to offer.

Study Question: Has there ever been a time when you had to choose between mans law and Gods law? Please feel free to share with us in the comment section.

Starting to Blog Through The Bible

Hey yall! I'm so excited to announce that I'm going to be joining the Blogging Through the Bible series with GMG! Basically we read a chapter of the Bible a day. It's that simple! Anyone can do it! You can click the above link if you'd like to join me! The series starts January 5th and we begin with Exodus chapter one. Courtney from the site http://womenlivingwell.org/ has made this such an easy series to be a part of! She even has monthly reading plans, e workbooks, and devotionals to use during the study. You can read more about that here http://womenlivingwell.org/2014/12/january-bible-reading-plan-workbooks-schedule-and-forum-open/ I hope that you will find this helpful and maybe you will gain some friends from the forum and Friday posts! I'm planning on making a post at least once a week about what we read and my own thoughts. If you'd like feel free to post along with mine in the comment sections. You can leave a link to your blogs on the subject as well! I'd love to hear from yall!
