Summer Bible Study With Good Morning Girls (Psalm 8)

     Hey y'all! Our reading for today is Psalm chapter eight. I will be using the SOAK bible study method from Courtney at Women Living Well. More information on this bible study method can be found here http://womenlivingwell.org/2015/01/how-to-use-soak-bible-study-method-bible-coloring-chart/ on her site. This week you can find lots of awesome and helpful free resources that Courtney has provided for participants here https://womenlivingwell.org/2018/06/good-morning-girls-resources-psalms-6-10/ . Now lets grab our Bibles and get into God's word together!

Psalm 8
S - O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
O - I saw David recognizing the glory of the Lord. He observes Gods majesty in creation. He tells of Gods great strength. Lastly, he proclaims the excellence of God.

A - This chapter reminds me of how glorious God is. He magnificently crafted all of creation and still thinks highly of something as small as me.

K -Dear God, thank You for the beautiful world that You created. I ask that You would help me to always recognize Your glory all around me. -Amen

      I have found so many interesting things to think about by reading through the book of Psalms so far and today is no different. As I read in this chapter about Davids recognition of how glorious the Lord is, I was struck with awe. David saw the Lords glory and might. He knew that even in the midst of this great universe, God still valued humanity just as much as His other creations. Verses three and four stuck out to me the most in this passage. These verses remind us that we are also the handy work of the Creator just as the moon and stars are. God created a vast and wondrous universe but He still thinks of us. It is hard to wrap my head around the fact that I am so small but my God adores even me. There have been times when I have stared out at the night sky and wondered quietly to myself about why God in all His power would want a relationship with me. It just doesn't make sense that the God of all the universe being so mighty and glorious would classify me as part of His glorious creation. We need to remember that the Lord made us witnesses to His glory all around us. I am learning that I matter to God more than I could have ever imagined. He is helping me to build a deeper relationship with Him.

     Overall, today's reading helped me to see that the Lord is mindful of me and I pray that you were able to see this as well. Thank you for joining me today and I hope to see you back here tomorrow when we read Psalm chapter nine. I will leave y'all with some discussion questions for today posted below. I invite you to fellowship with each other, share your thoughts, participate in the discussion questions, and encourage one another in the comment section below this post. Have a blessed day!

Has there been a time in your life when you wondered if you mattered to God? How did God help you realize that He cares for you?
